CIANT
The database of the Czech partner → CIANT fulfills the functions of an archive and a presentation platform. Therefore, the integration of ”streaming media” technologies was of major importance.
Archive and broadcast server interact directly via a network during the transmission of media elements/content. For the description of individual works of art, the original database was augmented with new metadata fields. As a database model, an ER-scheme was applied (for additional information see the database description in full length).
Content
The goal of the project AMANT [Ref. 1] was to present some of the important electronic artworks making use of the large-capacity servers and the broadband academic network operated by CESNET [Ref. 2]. As a result there a platform was created for interdisciplinary collaboration between educators, creators and curators interested in electronic art. The archive base consists of the works of Steina and Woody Vasulka, pioneers of electronic art. In addition to the works of art (including student works) the archive contains documentation and backup DVDs.
