MindFrames Research Database of ZKM Karlsruhe
In terms of content, the ZKM’s OASIS database is geared to the “MindFrames. Media Study at Buffalo 1973-1990“ (16.12.2006-25.03.2007) show. The database combines reference data sets that were compiled in the run-up to the exhibition.
While expert systems frequently only offer systematic coverage of a genre or media type, the special achievement of the MindFrames research database is that it presents a comprehensive system that takes into account the editorial requirements of → various media formats.
Context
The outstanding importance of the ZKM OASIS database within the MindFrames exhibition (hereinafter: the MindFrames research database) consisted in the compilation and presentation of works and documents from the early days of Media Art in the US that are otherwise not available.
